Verified Reviewer | Radnor, PennsylvaniaDo not buy Power Spec computers
Hello everyone, I recommend never buying a power spec computer. I originally gave Microcenter a five-star rating because of the help and kindness of Dara McKenzie in customer relations at the corporate office and the help of a certain manager at the St.
David Store. But after today’s phone call with customer relations at corporate, I spoke with a rude, name calling individual by the name of Josh who called me a liar, and he proceeded to tell me if I want my computer fixed I have to pay for it even though I still had a year of technical support.
I am going to share my story about my experience I had with Microcenter in St. George’s store, you can be the judge. I purchased my 1st computer in August of 2019 and since that time I have been given 8 different computers.
1st computer would not boot up.
2nd computer was an open box they said it worked fine I get it home and it would not update windows 10 had errors and would not boot.
3rd computer fans would not turn off brought it back they tested it and they could not get the fans to turn off they were running at high speed, so they decided to replace it with another computer.
3rd computer fans would not turn on took it back they checked it out and they decided to replace the fans in the store took 20 minutes I get the computer home and would not update windows 10 and would not boot took it back to store.
4th computer right out of the box they tested in-store and fans would not turn on they replaced the fans with the fans from the other fans they replaced on the other computer.
5th computer would not update again errors not recognizing my monitors, froze up.
6th computer they gave me a G433 I get home and the cooling fan for the CPU was laying inside the computer case not connected I had to drive back 45 minutes before they closed and the manager reinstalled the fan and tightened it, something told me this wasn't a good sign again, after a week the video card failed they tested in-store and they agreed I was told they did not have another G433 salesman convinced me to purchase an iMac 27" this was now my...
7th computer, salesman said it was better than the computers I had, I find out it was slower, much slower than the g433 and would not do the video editing I needed to do.
At this point i was a little upset that their sales man told me that the iMac 27" computer would do what i needed it to do and all the computers that failed, I decided to contact customer relations to let them know what has been happening. Everything was handled professionally by Dara McKenzie with the utmost respect she made arrangements to return this computer, I returned to the store and they asked what i wanted to do I said I want a computer that is going to work I mentioned I really like the G433 and that's what I wanted but I was told they did not have any G433’S in stock, they said they got new ones in stock and I said are you sure they will work they assured me that they would I took my 8th computer home on September 13th, 2019 and everything was working great until I did the updates on October 24th up to this point I paused all updates and then on October 24th 2019 I turned on the updates and things started acting up again. I contacted Microcenter tech support they wanted me to reinstall windows like other times before and that never resolved anything it still was causing the same problems audio going out, USB’s not recognizing my external drive, I called tech support and they said to update the drivers so I updated the video card from Nvidia and updated the audio drivers still problems. Microcenter tech said to bring in the computer as they have said in the past and I already knew all they were going to do is give me another computer and the problem would not be resolved.
Tech support also told me it could be an update software problem to contact Microsoft so I did and Microsoft logged on to my machine and noticed problems and that I possibly needed to update my bios.
I contacted ASRock the motherboard manufacturer and they walked me through the update but still had problems. Microsoft called me back because they opened a ticket for me to speak with a level 2 tech he said to bring in my computer to their service center and they would try to fix the problem for me after 3 days I picked up my computer they told me that they did a complete clean install and updated all the drivers. I was also told that there could be a conflict with their windows software and hardware like the motherboard.
I contacted micro center tech support and they said to reinstall Windows I said Microsoft had me install windows a clean install. All Microcenter techs do is tell you to reinstall windows or bring in the computer.
I personally believe that it is the cheap $70.00 motherboard they put in these Power Spec computers that are not compatible with Windows software just my opinion.
So I am recommending not to by a Power Spec computer or deal with Microcenter customer relations person Josh.

Non returnable MS windows 10 after 5 days and with receipt
The only reason I purchased windows 10 usb 32/64 from Microcenter was their website stated it was returnable within 30 days. I only purchased this as a last resort to get my Dell 580 up and running again to no avail.
Therefore, I purchased a new Dell 3670 online with dell to save $170 for their labor day promo. Come to find out when I went back to return the Windows 10 today, I was basically made a fool and for spending $150 (with tax) for a product I cannot use and no longer need. Even the Return merchandise CSR said he bought a Win 10 key for $5 on ebay. The management was basically "your problem now".
I will never purchase another item from Microcenter and hope they too go out of business. I tried to do the right thing and PURCHASE a valid windows 10 key to make my windows 7 computer work again after attempting to restore from factory which it would not. I have spent 2 months working on this and then $150 down the drain. So angry.
Your Houston, TX staff could not give a crap and kept telling me it was returnable... if un opened. Obviously it was opened so why keep rubbing that into my wound? I should have been like the crooks and had the package resealed in cellophane and returned as un opened.
I still might. I am so angry to just throw away $150. Your website needs to be CLEAR ABOUT YOUR RETURN POLICY'S WITH MS PRODUCTS. Do you honestly think I would have wasted $150 on purpose?
I am so mad at myself for being stupid and doing the right thing. NEVER AGAIN.

My previous gaming build was a powerspec heavily upgraded but it still runs and now is being using used by son. It's about a decade old and the only part failure was a power supply about 6 years in.
While the model number is well worn off the sticker, I do know it's a second gen I5 2500k. My current computer is the G433 with minor upgrades, I have had it about 2 or 3 years now. The only Issue I had was a exhaust fan gave out.
When pricing out parts there wasn't a way to get a I7 9700k and a 2080 anywhere close to the cost of the G433 and that wasn't even including NVME storage Another commenter said they were built by Asus this isn't true they are made by Microcenter. Due to there pricing and decent price, I would recommend to anyone who isn't looking for a custom build.
Powerspec pc's are one of the best ever and really they are made and manufactured by Asus. If there was a problem, either you bought a refurb pc and did not know it and it had issues to begin with or the issue was a picnic, meaning, prob in chair, not in computer
Let me guess this is some one from powerspec making this comment because it seems that's exactly what they tried to tell me at the store where i purchased it and as for being the best well other computer manufactures have said other wise. Six computers later all replaced because they would not work on them and when they said they were going to replace the seventh computer i said no i want this computer it is everything I wanted in a computer all the specs and hardware.
So they refused to fix it again. I finally took it to Microsoft store and they found all types of things that needed to be fixed and updated and they fixed my final seventh computer and because I did have Microsoft work on it they said I voided the warranty. It's ok I have read other reviews on their website and others have experienced the same problem with them not fixing their computers and just replace them. I read a review that a guy had four computers replaced before it finally worked.
My computer now runs great and I have great support from Microsoft store. And as for the User in the chair, I have been building and working on computers for years as a tech even in my business, I didn't want to build another computer this time around I wanted something already built with the specs I wanted and hardware, I could have figured out what was wrong with this computer but I didn't want to work on this computer, because I didn't want to void the warranty. The end result is still the same anyone who is buying powerspec pc's is going to face the same problems they only want their bios on it and their software.
Thank you for the comment greatly aprreciated you gave me another opportunity to share more about powerspec computers. God bless you I hope Powerspec has resolved this problem
Oh wanted to add that you lied about powerspec computers being made by Asus, they said they never heard of powerspec computers and that they are made by Micro Center.
Powerspec is kind *** First off its all chinese *** Second off its cheaper just to build your own for about the same amount
Yep
